Stealthy Sophistication: Panerai PAM 438 Tuttonero

Officine Panerai is an Italian brand of quality watches synonymous with luxury and masculinity. Revered by many a collector of fine timepieces, their robust design details such as the iconic lever device which protects the winding crown and large roman numeral indicators are a hallmark of their vintage inspired aesthetic. However, with the new stealthy looking Panerai PAM 438 Tuttonero GMT they have decided to go with an all-ceramic edition of the classic Luminor 1950 case. And although ceramic is a newer trend in fine watch finishes it pairs nicely with the paired-down vintage Panerai look. By coating both the case and bracelet in matte black ceramic this fine timepiece takes on a refined monotone sleekness and offers function in the form of superior scratch resistance.

The Tuttonero makes use of Panerai’s exclusive P.9001/B  29-jewel automatic movement and boasts an impressive power reserve of 72 hours. The “B” designation stands for the matte black galvanized version of their P.9001 movement and can be seen from the back of the high-tech ceramic case. The casing itself measures a nicely sized 44mm and is water resistant to 300 meters.

No official pricing just yet, but our sources say Panerai PAM 438 Tuttonero GMT is expected to retail for $11,450 USD when it arrives this fall.
